Chronic pain recovery with Shockwave

What is Shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a safe form of treatment that has been clinically proven to be very effective in the treatment of chronic, persistent pain conditions. This therapy stimulates the body’s natural self-healing process.

High energy pressure waves (not electric) are transmitted through the skin and into the underlying tissue. This produces an inflammatory response, which then increases metabolic activity around the site of pain. Therefore, stimulating & accelerating the healing process through:

  • Increased blood flow

  • Stimulation of collagen

  • Breaking down scar tissue

  • Dissolution of calcium build up

Treatment sessions are only 15 minutes in duration. Depending on the condition & your response 3-5 sessions are most beneficial. Shockwave can be used in conjunction with an Osteopathy treatment, or on its own, your practitioner will help you decide what would benefit you the most.
